Namibia’s entertainment industry steps into the spotlight with the highly anticipated debut of the new local production Bora Box, premiering Friday, 29 August 2025 at 19h30, exclusively on Channel O.

Made in collaboration with MultiChoice Namibia as the second phase of its local content project Ombura and Channel O, the production, filmed with Reggie Film Crew (RFC), marks a historic moment for television as the spotlight is shone on the diverse Namibian music scene.

Born from a desire to showcase Namibia’s musical talent in a fresh, authentic way, director Reggie Films described the production as a platform that “blends artist storytelling with street-level conversations”, drawing inspiration from shows such as O-Access and TRL.

“Bora Box is more than a TV show; it’s a statement that Namibian music deserves the spotlight,” he said. “It gives artists visibility, encourages cross-genre appreciation, and helps nurture a stronger sense of pride in our creative industry. By documenting and broadcasting these voices, we’re building cultural archives and paving the way for more opportunities for local talent.”

Hosted by one of Namibia’s freshest rappers Skrypt, the show offers viewers a deep-dive into the lives of local artists, their dynamic music, and an opportunity for Namibians to request the hottest songs in the streets.

Speaking on his experience behind-the-scenes, Reggie felt the artists brought raw energy, vulnerability, and a deep passion for their craft. “Our production team matched that energy with creativity and dedication, ensuring every episode reflects the heartbeat of Namibia’s music culture. There was a real sense of collaboration and everyone pulling in the same direction to tell stories that matter,” he remarked.

Noticing that there is a growing respect for local music, Reggie also mentioned that there is an honest acknowledgement that international artists often dominate playlists. “However, the gap is closing and people are recognizing that our local sound can be just as innovative, catchy, and world-class. The more platforms we create to share Namibian music, the more it will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with global acts,” he concluded.

If you’re unable to catch the debut, watch repeats of Bora Box every Saturday at 21h00 or Mondays at 22h30 only on DStv channel 320 or GOtv channel 47.
