Hardly has the dust of the great war on Gqokli Hill settled where grief descended upon the kingdom of the Ndwandwe. Zwide, that unshakeable king, loses his sons. His grief threatens not just his soul but the stability of his nation. In the darkness of this loss, the family takes out their wrath on Soshangane and Sikhunyana and a dangerous rift in the ranks is created.
