Africa Day is an annual celebration of the Organisation of African Unity (now known as the African Union) founded on 25 May 1963. It is an extremely special day to highlight pride in the continent, its countries, and most importantly, its people. Africa was rocked by the sudden passing of Kenyan long-distance runner Kelvin Kiptum at the age of 24 in February. Kiptum currently holds the marathon world record and as of 2024, he ran three of the seven fastest marathons in history and held the number one ranking among the world’s men’s marathon runners.
