Serie A preview, 26-29 April 2024

Italy is not only known for its ability to produce some of the world’s most iconic culinary dishes, but the country can also cook up some delicious football to enjoy. With a GOtv subscription, fans of Italian football can indulge in the Serie A as the next matchday looms.

The headlining fixture this time will be when the two powerhouses Juventus and AC Milan take each other on at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Saturday evening. Since it looks as though Inter has run away with the title, the teams will push hard to ensure that they get a dignified finish on the log.

Although there are no Africans in the Juventus squad, Milan have Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer and Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze on their books who have been a pivotal part of the team. Bennacer has expressed his confidence in his team’s strength and even said that they are stronger than Roma.

“A different Milan, but I think, for me, even stronger. We have different players with a lot of quality, more experience, there’s a different spirit. On the pitch everyone dies for each other,” he said. Will they die for each other once more against Juventus? With GOtv, you’ll be able to see that for yourself.

The round also offers the “Derby of the Sun” as Napoli will lock horns with Roma at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. It will be another chance for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to be at his best and add to his goal tally for Napoli this season. So far, Osimhen has scored 13 goals in the league which is still quite decent despite his critics saying he’s a shadow of his former self.

Osimhen inspired Gli Azzurri in their last league match against Monza by scoring a hattrick. Talks are getting louder about the player possibly leaving Napoli, but according to top Italian agent Oscar Damiani, the team will be “unattractive” without his services. “Osimhen, however, is irreplaceable: only play can give something more to the team, but individually you can't find anyone else like him,” he added.

In this round, Internazionale will aim to take steps further to clinch the title when they host Torino at the San Siro. Lazio will go up against Verona at the Stadio Olimpico and then Atalanta will host Empoli. For Atalanta, Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has finally found his feet and it’s another chance for him to shine as he provided two assists in their last game.

Former Fulham caretaker manager Stuart Gray is not surprised by Lookman’s latest heroics, saying that he always knew he would be great. “He’s one of the most dedicated professionals I’ve seen who just wanted to work hours and hours on the training pitch. He was first in the building and would leave when the staff did,” said Gray. The coach also went on to say that Lookman is just getting started.

“He’s like a golfer with the amount of hours they put in. Huge credit to him that he’s not just stayed in this country. He’s got off his backside and gone abroad. He’s only 26, he’s not even peaked.” To follow Lookman’s European football journey, be sure to subscribe with GOtv and have a first look at when he finally hits that “peak” his former boss is talking about.
